内容記述 | In recent years, the rapid advancement of IT has heightened the significance of data science and artificial intelligence (AI), underscoring the need for education in these fields. As society undergoes the Fourth Industrial Revolution, driven by digital transformation (DX), the demand for IT and DX specialists, particularly data scientists capable of analyzing and leveraging big data, is escalating. However, the shortage of skilled professionals in AI and related areas remains a pressing concern. To address this, the Japanese government has implemented strategies to foster AI talent, highlighting the crucial role of data science education in universities. Despite the progress, data science education has predominantly focused on science students, with fewer practical applications available for humanities students. This paper explores the implementation of data science education for humanities students through a case study of the Kyoto Tachibana University Cross-Over Problem-Solving Project, focusing on addressing the congestion issue in the university’s cafeteria. By applying social research methodologies and problem-solving frameworks, the project provided students with practical data science experience, enabling them to develop hypotheses and solutions for real-world problems. The study identifies key challenges and offers insights into improving data science education for humanities students, contributing to the broader goal of nurturing data science professionals across disciplines. |
